Speaker 1 00:00:03 Good late afternoon. Speaker 2 00:00:05 I'm Speaker 1 00:00:05 Ronnie. And I'm Brian. And this is Snorkeling with Narwhals. Welcome to Cart Talk our weird weeks. Speaker 2 00:00:14 Today we're gonna be talking about the concert that we both went to separately last week. Speaker 1 00:00:20 Yes. Um, here in Erie, we don't get a lot of concerts that we would go to, which Speaker 2 00:00:24 Is other than country. Yeah. We just get country concerts pretty much. Speaker 1 00:00:27 Which we both, we both like Christian music mm-hmm. <affirmative>. And so when we both found out that News Boys, which for those who don't know, it's a pretty big deal in the Christian music realm. They're coming with three different openers. Um, I know, at least for myself, I was super pumped for that. And I know your situation was probably different. Speaker 2 00:00:46 I, I, my situation was a little bit different because I actually went there for work. I had to take a group of kids there, so it was a little bit different for me. I did enjoy it. I, and I was excited for it. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, um, the openers, the, the three openers were, do you remember who they were? It's Speaker 1 00:01:01 Rough. Do I remember <laugh> Ryan Stevenson, O BBB and Audio Adrenaline whose shirt I am wearing. Speaker 2 00:01:08 Yes. Um, now you really liked the, the, uh, Speaker 1 00:01:11 The first time I loved Ryan Stevenson. Speaker 2 00:01:13 Yeah. You really Speaker 1 00:01:13 Liked Ryan Steven and I really wish we could play him for you, but I don't think we can without getting in trouble. So I wish we could we'll probably put up, I actually got to meet him after the concert and I just, I related to his music pretty personally. And so I really, I appreciated getting to hear Speaker 2 00:01:30 You appreciated it on another Speaker 1 00:01:32 Level. Yeah. Yeah. Like, I, I enjoyed the music and like his voice and everything mm-hmm. <affirmative>, but there's, it, it went to another level based on Speaker 2 00:01:38 That's how I felt about OB b. Okay. I really liked their music. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> and I had never heard them before. I didn't know they Speaker 1 00:01:43 Existed. Right. They're more, they're, they could be just a straight up pop group like you were saying earlier. They're Speaker 2 00:01:48 A little bit more Speaker 1 00:01:48 Mainstream. Ryan Stevenson's kind of this weird, he's, it's pop, it's definitely pop, but it's kind of this weird mix of like, like, I don't know, he kind of has a little hip hop vibe to it, but not like overwhelming. I thought, no, Speaker 2 00:02:01 No, Speaker 1 00:02:02 You're right. And then, um, audio adrenaline was really good. Uh, they're actually in like their third version of the band. I was really excited cause I got to meet their lead singer who, he used to be the, the singer for a band named Stellar Cart, also a Christian band. And at one point they released an EP of Disney covers, which was awesome. They did, um, that Can You Feel the love Tonight in a punk version? And it was fantastic. Wow. So I was really excited that I got to meet him because I've, I've appreciated their music for a long time too. Speaker 2 00:02:31 And then the, obviously the headliner was his news boys. His news boys, and they were fantastic. Speaker 1 00:02:35 Um, super high energy. Speaker 2 00:02:36 Very high energy. Um, the, the drummer, I thought he was going to roll off the stage at one Speaker 1 00:02:41 Point. Yeah. This was awesome. Ba he had, uh, and I knew they did this. I just didn't know when they would do it. I didn't know. Cause I followed em on Twitter. They're drummers on a platform and during like the last song, I mean they did a couple encores, but the last like main song, he, the platform like went in the air and it started tilting and like it started spinning mm-hmm. <affirmative>. And then it at one point literally went perpendicular to the ground. Speaker 2 00:03:04 Right. So he was playing on the drums, like Speaker 1 00:03:06 He never missed a beat either. No. Um, so I'm guessing he was bolted down the set and he was there. He had to be like strapped in <laugh>. I mean he, did you see him though? He like, he's really jacked. Speaker 2 00:03:16 He, uh, so, but he was stand, the thing that confused me is he actually stands up in the, in the drum seat a few times mm-hmm. <affirmative>. So when he was all of a sudden he's spinning, I was like, wait a minute. He couldn't have been wearing a seatbelt because he was just standing up. Speaker 1 00:03:31 Yeah. Maybe his core strength is that phenomenal. Speaker 2 00:03:35 Or maybe he like really quickly buckled it and we weren't paying that close of attention because he was like this big. Speaker 1 00:03:41 Like, so overall, like he was, it was kind of hard to see mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Um, overall it was, it was a great concert, but we do have a couple complaints. There was a few things, not so much with the, the bands or anything. Speaker 2 00:03:51 And these are kind, kind of, uh, complaints that you would have going to any concert. Yeah. They're, I mean, pretty generic complaints. Yeah. But what was your biggest Speaker 1 00:04:01 Complaint? My biggest complaint was that when I went, I'm a huge souvenir guy, obviously. Mm-hmm. Um, when I went to get a shirt from the Newsboys section, it, it was packed. Like we were there like 40 minutes before the show started and you'd think that'd be a good time to get there. And so it was just a giant mob of people. And I, you would think by now they would have learned that you should put like line dividers at these lines so at least it'll be packed. But like, people are in an actual line when the person in front goes, the next person like proceeds. Speaker 2 00:04:33 Right. Like a Speaker 1 00:04:33 Line. Right. Like a line <laugh>. And so it became just this giant mob and it was super annoying cuz you basically should have to push Speaker 2 00:04:41 Forward. Right. You just kind worm your way to the Speaker 1 00:04:43 Front. Yeah. And like I, there were, I got cut in line and like, I was fuming, which is a terrible thing, especially at a Christian concert. I was like, I wanna punch someone so bad <laugh>. Um, that's just me being honest. I, it subsided. But man, like that was my big complaint. Speaker 2 00:05:00 My big complaint was, well I was going there with youth, so Speaker 1 00:05:04 The Youth of America, Speaker 2 00:05:05 <laugh>, the Youth of America, were with me. And you know, when you're the, the adult that is taking care of them, you get it. Just, you get cranky, you get tired. So I went to go get a drink of like caffeine, something with caffeine in it. And they were selling the drinks not out of like a fountain. They sold the drinks. So they'd have like a bottle like this, but when they sold it to you, they didn't sell you the bottle. They took the bottle, poured half of it into a cup and gave you half of it. So rather than, and then they would take the other half and give that to somebody else. So you were being charged like $4 for half of a bottle of soda, which was outrageous. I mean that airport's getting expensive and I, I get that. But like, that was, it was insane. Speaker 1 00:05:53 Sports, uh, sporting events are really bad too. That's Trueman Park. That's true. Um, now, now we're just like getting into the entertainment Speaker 2 00:06:00 Industry and anywhere that you have to like go in and you're not allowed to take stuff in, they usually Speaker 1 00:06:04 Overcharge like a touristy type thing. Speaker 2 00:06:06 Right. Um, do you have any other Speaker 1 00:06:09 Complaints? Um, just, we were sitting in the front row of the balcony and mm-hmm. <affirmative>, there were times where the lighting, like, cuz there were a lot of times where like really bright lights just flashing everywhere. It was like in our face. Yeah. So I was like, Speaker 2 00:06:22 But the, they had like lasers, like laser lights that cool. That was really cool. So it was totally worth having this guy have it in this face too. Speaker 1 00:06:28 <laugh>. There, there was one point where audio adrenaline, they, they were like, oh, come on, you know, start jumping. I was like, I'm on the front row of a balcony and I don't have good balance. I was like, you're gonna see me like go flying if I do. Speaker 2 00:06:40 So I wonder how often that happens. Speaker 1 00:06:42 Probably not a lot. I hope not. You'd hear more about it, I think. Speaker 2 00:06:45 Um, so I guess in the opposite way, what was the things that you enjoyed the most about the concert? Cuz rather than just she shell out Speaker 1 00:06:55 Complaints. Yeah. No, uh, it was definitely, it was meeting Ryan Stevenson and I think I'm pronouncing it right. I don't know how to say his last name. Um, Adam Ay from Audio Adrenaline. Okay. Because again, those are two people who like, Speaker 2 00:07:05 So your favorite part of the concert was what you did after the concert, you didn't really even pay for? Speaker 1 00:07:10 Yeah, I kind of, because Ryan Stevenson, I, I, I got to tell him that like when I hear his stuff, it, it clicks with me. Speaker 2 00:07:17 Okay. That's cool. Speaker 1 00:07:19 And that, so that wasn't so much like a fanboy moment that was more like an like, I, I appreciate Speaker 2 00:07:24 Your Speaker 1 00:07:24 Okay. The audio adrenaline one was pretty much a fanboy moment. Okay. Speaker 2 00:07:28 I Speaker 1 00:07:28 Was like, yeah. All right. <laugh>. Speaker 2 00:07:31 Um, I think my favorite moment was probably when the, the drummer started spinning. Yes. That was incredibly Speaker 1 00:07:37 Awesome. It was. And it was, it was ridiculously loud at that point. Speaker 2 00:07:41 Yeah. Which I didn't get to stay late because I had to get the, the kids home. So Speaker 1 00:07:45 Yeah. You, you were the Speaker 2 00:07:46 Adult. I was the adult. That's, Speaker 1 00:07:48 That's terrifying. So Speaker 2 00:07:48 It is, you have no idea how terrified I was when I realized that I was in charge of a group of kids on my own. Speaker 1 00:07:54 Yeah. Speaker 2 00:07:55 It was terrifying. It was very cool. And I love kids and I've always been able to work with kids, but it was, it was a little Speaker 1 00:08:01 Terrifying. I can't, I have an issue with kids. You issue with kids. Um, there's like, if I'm, Speaker 2 00:08:06 Which we may talk about in our next segment. Speaker 1 00:08:08 Yes. Yes. Actually, that's a really good awkward segue. I'll wait to, to <laugh> to divulge why I have an issue with kids in our next segment. Speaker 2 00:08:21 So in the last segment we talked about that, or we started to talk about how Brian hates children. Now I'm one of those people who doesn't really have anything that bothers me or you like to call them pet peeves. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:08:34 But Speaker 2 00:08:35 You said conversely you have a lot of them. Speaker 1 00:08:38 Well, you said you're very relaxed person. I'm, I'm like, I have a lot of like anger brewing under the surface apparently, or at least a lot of anxiety. Okay. Um, and to say I hate children, that's a little harsh. Okay. Possibly slightly. Speaker 2 00:08:51 He's not a chil he doesn't hate children. He just, Speaker 1 00:08:54 I get he can't stand them. I get <laugh>, I get very annoyed and it's not with all children, it's just like from the ages of probably like 10 to 13. And I don't know if part of it is because like when I think back at, of like on myself at 10 years old. Okay. Like, I would want, like, I want to punch 10 year old me <laugh>. Or like, maybe like 90, like super annoying. Okay. Like when I was in like sixth grade, like super annoying. Speaker 2 00:09:18 And you're, you aren't now Speaker 1 00:09:20 I am, but now it's more intentional. Speaker 2 00:09:24 Okay. Speaker 1 00:09:24 It's, it's not, it's not like just from being like 11 years Speaker 2 00:09:29 Old. I love kids. I love kids. I've had, I have four little siblings and Speaker 1 00:09:32 So maybe that's part of Speaker 2 00:09:33 It. That could be part of it, but I don't like, I don't mind children at Speaker 1 00:09:37 All. Yeah. It, I mean, I don't mind like all children, it's just like mm-hmm. <affirmative> when, when they're really annoying. Right. Like, it bugs me and I, I I only have older siblings, so that might be part of it. I never had to mm-hmm. <affirmative>, the only people I had to deal with that were younger were my cousins. Speaker 2 00:09:49 Okay. That makes sense. And people at school. Speaker 1 00:09:51 Um, and people at school, what Speaker 2 00:09:53 Other peeves do you have? Speaker 1 00:09:54 Well, this one isn't so much a pet peeve as it makes me very uncomfortable and I guess kind of irritated. So I guess it might be a pet peeve. Speaker 2 00:10:00 Oh, maybe sort of. Speaker 1 00:10:01 There is such a thing as SpongeBob fan fiction and this makes me so uncomfortable for some reason. Now that's, so I will explain because I've told people and they don't understand what I'm talking about now. Fan fiction, you know, for those who don't know, people will write and publish on these sites. Um, stories featuring like characters from like movies or shows and they'll just write their own stories and publish them online. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, which, uh, you know, you could probably get in trouble for if someone really wanted to. Like, if a studio really wanted to call you out on it, but they probably don't care right Now. This also exists for like, shows like SpongeBob and I'm general. I'm like, all right. You know, if you wanna write a story about like Speaker 2 00:10:45 Why not just go watch Speaker 1 00:10:47 SpongeBob? Well you could, but like if you wanna write something like whatever, that's fine. But some of the things that people write are so bizarre and very strange and it just unnerves me immensely. There was one where SpongeBob was addicted to heroin. Speaker 2 00:11:03 That's just inappropriate. There was, that doesn't bother me. That's just inappropriate. Speaker 1 00:11:07 There was one where SpongeBob had a sister who fell in love with Squidward. Speaker 2 00:11:12 That's not that like that, that would make a good episode. Yeah, Speaker 1 00:11:15 But you have to read them like they're poorly written. Speaker 2 00:11:18 Okay. Well that's not, I'm not gonna say that that's a new pet peeve of mine because I haven't read Speaker 1 00:11:23 Them. So if you do, you'll understand. And a lot of 'em have just avoid them, have really weird love affairs and I don't want to get into that. Just take my word not, it is so Speaker 2 00:11:32 Bizarre. Let's not What other things that pet peeve? Because I, I feel like I need a pet peeve. Like something, Speaker 1 00:11:36 You Speaker 2 00:11:37 Need something. I need something that can tell. So like, what are other ones Speaker 1 00:11:39 That you have? My name gets misspelled. And do you like how I was just like ready on the ball? Yeah. Yeah. My name, 'em, my name gets misspelled all the time. Speaker 2 00:11:47 Really? Speaker 1 00:11:48 First off my first name, you know Brian. Okay. I usually get, it's usually spelled with a, a y instead of an I, which I don't understand cuz anytime I've seen it like nine times outta 10, Brian is spelled with an Speaker 2 00:11:58 I. Yeah, no, that makes Speaker 1 00:11:59 Sense. I've seen it. We have a friend who spells, Speaker 2 00:12:01 Has anyone ever spelled your name? Brian Brain? Speaker 1 00:12:04 All the time. Really? All the time. Wow. And it is <laugh>. So annoying. Um, then my, my last name I understand is probably slightly more difficult cuz it is made up mainly of consonants. <laugh>, it's McKay, M C k A Y. And I've gotten M C C A Y, I've gotten McCrae <laugh>, I've gotten M K k A Y. I'm like, that doesn't even make sense. At least Mick is an actual prefix for names, but it's just, it bugs me. And what Speaker 2 00:12:34 Oh, so it's Mick K. Speaker 1 00:12:36 Yeah. Like if you went into like the origins of the word the Mick is like, it means like son of, um, what also bugs me is when people don't capitalize the k in my last name, if they do like capital M C k A Y I capitalize the K and I consider it wrong. If it's not Speaker 2 00:12:57 That's that's like a sp that's like Speaker 1 00:13:00 A, that is a grammatical pet pee. Speaker 2 00:13:02 Right? That's not even that big of a deal. Like they spelled it right. Speaker 1 00:13:04 Well, yeah, but Microsoft office, if you do it lowercase, it comes up with a little red line. If you do it uppercase, it doesn't, I'm just Speaker 2 00:13:11 Saying that is how you know that you, Speaker 1 00:13:12 That's how you know Speaker 2 00:13:14 <laugh>. If there's a little squiggly line, you're doing it Speaker 1 00:13:16 Wrong. So you don't have anything like you don't have any, any pet pees? Speaker 2 00:13:20 No. Speaker 1 00:13:21 Brian <laugh> like I'm, am I your pet peeve? Speaker 2 00:13:25 No, Brian's not my pet peeve. <laugh>, um, try, I can't think of anything. Hmm. Um Speaker 1 00:13:33 Hmm. Speaker 2 00:13:33 I mean there's things that I don't like. Yeah. Like I don't like deep pretzels. <laugh>, I don't like pretzels. I don't like hard pretzels. If it's a soft pretzel, I'll Speaker 1 00:13:42 Eat itzel. Oh, soft pretzels are the best Speaker 2 00:13:43 Hard pretzels. I won't eat Speaker 1 00:13:45 Corn. Disgusts me. You Speaker 2 00:13:46 Corn disgusts you. Yeah, but these aren't Pepsi peeves. Like, I can't think of anything that just like Speaker 1 00:13:51 That. Like you can't. Yeah, you can't. Yeah. I don't know. Mine are just like really weird. Um, like fears and hatreds. Speaker 2 00:14:01 It bothers me when people don't park in their spot. Like when they park in like two spots. Speaker 1 00:14:05 See that's a pet peeve. Speaker 2 00:14:06 But I feel like that's a common thing. Like that's just being someone being stupid. Speaker 1 00:14:09 Yes. But that is a pet peeve. Speaker 2 00:14:10 It bothers me when people are stupid. That's my pet peeve. Speaker 1 00:14:14 That's Speaker 2 00:14:14 Your pet peeve. That's what, alright, Speaker 1 00:14:16 <laugh>. Speaker 2 00:14:21 Alright, so what have we learned today? Speaker 1 00:14:23 What have we learned? Um, we have learned one that I apparently have a lot of bitterness deep down because I apparently don't like children. Corn, Speaker 2 00:14:34 Corn, Speaker 1 00:14:35 SpongeBob, fan fiction lines that turn into mobs and lights in my face. But I do like Speaker 2 00:14:43 Overcharge drinks, Speaker 1 00:14:44 Christian music Speaker 2 00:14:45 And Speaker 1 00:14:46 People Speaker 2 00:14:46 Who are stupid. People who are stupid are my pet peeves. So if you're stupid, um, or you overcharge for your drinks, work Speaker 1 00:14:55 On stupid teran, Speaker 2 00:14:56 Work on it. No, no. Just in general. If you're stupid, work on it. But Speaker 1 00:14:59 Stupid subjective. Speaker 2 00:15:01 That's why if you think you're stupid, work on it. <laugh>, make yourself better. Make yourself less stupid. That's it. It'll be great. Everyone around you will. Thank Speaker 1 00:15:10 You. That turned far more inspiring than I thought it was going Speaker 2 00:15:12 To. Yeah, that was, oh, I liked Speaker 1 00:15:14 That. Make yourself less stupid. Speaker 2 00:15:16 Everyone. Make yourself less stupid. That is your, your goal for this week. Your homework. Go out and make the world a better place by being less stupid. Speaker 1 00:15:24 So once again, Ronnie, we know we're gonna be having you back for the next episode. We've already Speaker 2 00:15:29 Confirmed that I'm definitely gonna be back and I'm gonna try to be back as often as possible. So, Speaker 1 00:15:34 So once again, good late afternoon. Morning. Have a good morning. Good morning. Morning. It's morning. Yeah man, we've Speaker 2 00:15:39 Been, have a good morning Speaker 1 00:15:40 And we, it took us hours to record Speaker 2 00:15:43 <laugh>. And we will see you next time on Speaker 1 00:15:45 Goodbye. Good morning. We're our walls.
