Speaker 1 00:00:11 What's up everyone? You're listening to Snorkeling with Narwals. I'm your host, Brian McKay, and I'm back. You might be wondering where have you been for the past two years? Where's Ronnie? Where's Eric? Why am I only listening to this and not watching it as well? Well, those are all good questions and I have recorded this many, many times by now. So I'm gonna try to answer those questions in the order that I said them. So where have I been for the past two years and I guess by extension, where's Ronnie Ben? We have both been doing our own things. I'm still working at Barron and he actually got married <laugh> and he is now a pastor. So, you know, over the past two years we tried to record some new episodes. I think the last ones we actually recorded were in September, like two years ago. And we meant to release them and edit them and do everything with them. Speaker 1 00:01:08 We had this new studio we were working in and we actually had a few episodes and then they just never got produced. So more recently, uh, and I think it was March or February, we decided to try to do this remotely. You know, he lives in Northeast, which for those who aren't in Erie, it's about 40 minutes from where I live. Uh, it's close to Eerie, but it's not quite eerie. So we decided that we would try to do this. We recorded a test, like audio attest demo and it didn't go very well. I mean there was some, some lag, some we weren't in sync. It was hard to actually put it together and have it sound good. So we were gonna maybe try that again and it never happened. So like two months ago we met at Tim Horton's, which are really cold by the way, like they are super cold on the inside. Speaker 1 00:02:05 And we just met to talk about life, talk about the podcast, and we came to the realization sadly that snorkeling with Narwhals was probably dead. And that made me sad because I really did enjoy doing the podcast and I wanted to save the name because snorkeling with Narwals was too good of a name to not use for something else. So recently I talked to Eric and I talked to Ronnie about using the name for a podcast of my own and they both agreed that that was a good idea or that they didn't care if I used the name. So I had been wanting to do a podcast on my own for a while, kind of just like a Life podcast, like talk about sports, faith movies, literally anything I was thinking of at the time that I was recording anything that popped into my head and what better name to use for that than snorkeling with Narwals, cuz Snorkeling with Narwals was originally supposed to be like a random podcast where I would talk about whatever I was feeling at the moment in that day, whatever. Speaker 1 00:03:08 And when Ronnie joined, we leaned very heavily onto the random humor part of it, like the comedy Retina link style videos, which were really fun to do, you know, doing our quizzes and games and stuff like that. But I think I'm gonna go back and try to do snorkeling with Narwhals as I had originally envisioned it. And again, that's nothing like I, it's not to say I didn't like what it turned into, but this is kind of what I want to try with it. So I guess I answered where Ronnie has been. Um, Eric actually got a full-time job and he's out there making short films and doing all this stuff, which is why there's no video to this. It's a lot easier for me to just record audio, like I am literally on a floor with a microphone plugged into a laptop while sitting on a shoebox. Speaker 1 00:04:02 That's my setup right now. So I don't have to worry about the video aspect of it. And you know, again, it was nothing where Eric didn't want to do anything with us anymore. It was just, it was hard for our schedules to mesh. And I truly think it will be easier this way. So maybe I missed some of the questions that I asked in the very beginning of the video, but I think I got them all. Anyway. I don't know if this is going to work. I don't know if it's going to suck, if it's gonna be this really fun podcast for you to listen to, but I really wanted to try another podcast where I could record and edit and, you know, work on the social media side of it and try to build something that might be worth listening to. And who knows if it will be, but I guess we shall see. Speaker 1 00:04:51 So I'm gonna try to release one episode a week. I'm actually kind of inspired by Ryan Russillo. Uh, he's a host on E S P N and he recently started a podcast for The Ringer, which if you've never looked it up, it's an amazing site for sports and pop culture and podcasts. It's, it's so good. And he had an intro episode and then he's been doing once a week. So I think I'm going to try to do once a week. I have not decided on a day yet for releasing episodes, but I guess we'll see. And like I used to say on the very beginning of snorkeling with Narwals. Good morning, good afternoon, whenever it is. You're going to be listening to this. This is Snorkeling with Narwals. I'm Brian and I'm out.
